Western Oregon Handles Saints In Four-Game Series - Eskil finished the day with four RBIs and his first home run of the season while Sordahl managed four hits in the first doubleheader. Western Oregon used a 12-0 and 5-0 run to secure the two victories. The Wolves collected 22 runs on 26 hits in the first game to roll past the Saints before SMU jumped out to an early 6-1 lead in the second game. Adam Eskil drove in five runs in the first three innings, highlighted by a three run home run, to cap off his two home run, seven RBI day. However, the Wolves managed to drive in three in the third inning and four in the fifth to secure the series.
Adam Eskil Smashes His Way To First GNAC Player of the Week Award - Despite the baseball team dropping all four to Western Oregon, the Wolves never found an answer for Eskil. In his first full series at the plate this season, Eskil crushed the Western Oregon pitching staff to a tune of .583 batting average and three home runs. Eskil hit a home run in three straight game to help rack up nine RBIs, along with four runs scored and two walks.
Inouye, Oshiro Sweep GNAC Player of the Week Awards - Ryne Oshiro and Tanner Inouye swept the GNAC Player of the Week Awards in April after hitting .625 average and three home runs, and a seven strikeout complete game for the duo respectively. Oshiro began the four-game series with perfect timing. In the 10th inning, game tied, Oshiro connected on a ball to right field for his first collegiate home run, leading the Saints to a 5-4 victory. He went on in the series to hit two more home runs, driving six RBIs, while hitting 10-for-16 (.625 avg). Oshiro scored six times, with one double and worked three walks, including an intentional walk. Inouye helped the secure the series split on the road, throwing in the first game of the second doubleheader. Going the distance for the first time in his career, Inouye managed to strike out a season high seven batters. He only allowed two runs, one earned, to score on six hits.
Clark Streby Provides Lights Out Punch – The transfer from Walla Walla CC has given Saint Martin's a legitimate ace in their starting rotation. In 50.2 innings of work, Streby is 18th in the GNAC with a 5.33 ERA. He ranks tied for 14th in runs allowed (34), sixth in strikeouts (47), and innings pitched. Streby has claimed four of the eight wins for the Saints, and enters the week winning four of his last seven starts.
Tanner Inouye Establishing His Presence In GNAC – Before the third inning of his start against MSUB, where he allowed five runs, Inouye had been one of the most efficient pitchers for Saint Martin's, holding an ERA of 2.12. He finally qualified to be on the GNAC leaderboard after tossing a complete game against NNU. Inouye ranks eighth in the GNAC in ERA at 4.26 in 44.1 inning pitched and 30 strikeouts.
Steven Sordahl Picking Up Right Where He Left Off – As one of the best hitters for the Saints in 2017, Sordahl once again is near the top of SMU's batting average. Hitting .277 in 40 games, Sordahl has recorded 41 hits, with three double, two triples, 16 RBIs, 15 walks and five stolen bases.
Austin Feist Slugging The Ball – After a slow start, the All-Conference selection from 2017 found his grove in GNAC play. Feist enters the week hitting .325, while slugging .523, which ranks 10th best in GNAC. Feist's 11 doubles not only are tied for the team lead but rank tied for sixth in GNAC. Feist also leads the team with five home runs, 24 RBIs, and tied for eighth in GNAC with 49 hits.
Ryne Oshiro Provides Pop Up The Middle – The freshman had himself a breakout series against Montana State Billings, going 7-for-14, with one double and three RBIs. He followed it up with a season highlight performance against NNU, hitting .625 with three home runs, six RBIs and six runs scored. He enters the week second on the team in batting average (.322), and leads the team lead in runs scored (28), which is tied for 12th in the GNAC.
