Three Unanswered Goals Lift Saints In Season Opener – The Saints allowed a goal in the opening minutes of the match; however, Kiersten Madsen tied the game in the 28th minute before Natalie Brown scored the game-winning goal in the 62nd minute and Shea McKnight added one in the 88th minute as Saint Martin's secured their first win of the 2018 season. In the season opener, the match did not go the Saints' (1-0-0) way right off the bat, giving up a goal just three minutes in. However, from that point on, the Saints controlled the match, outshooting the Warriors (0-1-0) 18 to 12 and shots on goal 12 to six. Madsen, who joined her older brother Brandon, became the first brother/sister combo to score a goal on the same day in Saint Martin's history. In the second half, transfer Natalie Brown and returner Shea McKnight sealed the victory with goals as SMU clinched their first win.

SMU Sets School Record In Win - For the first time in a decade, the Saints' Women's Soccer program is 2-0 in the opening week of action, and they did it in style. Setting the school record for most shots in a single game, the Saints cruised by Northwest Christian 4-0 in their home opener. Shea McKnight got the scoring started with her second goal of the season in the 23rd minute, before the Saints added two right before halftime in Maia Larsen and Gloria Petri in the 41st and 44th minute respectively. Kiersten Madsen added her second goal of the season in the second half, scoring on a penalty kick. Sara Christensen got the start at goalkeeper and posted the first clean sheet of the year.

Saints Lighting Up The Scoreboard – Through the first two games, the Saints have scored seven goals. In program history, the most goals scored in the first two games of the year was four. After allowing a goal early to Corban, SMU has scored seven straight goals.

Rock Solid Defense – After giving up a goal just three minutes into the season, Ali Koehler and Sara Christensen have combined to not allow a goal for 177 consecutive minutes. The two goalies have stopped 19 shots and made nine saves. Christensen posted the first clean sheet of the year, shutting out Northwest Christian with four saves.

Scoring Combo Madsen and McKnight – Through the first seven goals, Kiersten Madsen and Shea McKnight have scored four combined, two each. Madsen scored the first goal of the year and her second came on a penalty kick versus Northwest Christian. McKnight put in the final goal against Corban and the first goal versus Northwest Christian.

Many New Faces – After graduating three seniors from last year, the Saints added a wave a new players. Eleven new players will dawn Saints' uniforms for the first time, featuring seven transfers and four freshman. Out of the 11, seven are homegrown from the state of Washington, with two from Hawaii, one from Oregon and one from Idaho.

Koehler Making HistoryAli Koehler enters the season at 156 saves in her career, which places her third in school history. Her 95 saves last year shot her up the leaderboard and tied her for fourth most saves in a single season with Sunny De Boer in SMU program history. On the year, Koehler has managed five saves and currently sits at 161, 79 behind second place holder Gina Cardenas (240 saves).
