BURNABY, Canada – A battle between the two of the top teams in the GNAC was quickly settled as Simon Fraser ran past the Saints in a 5-1 decision on Thursday night.
Simon Fraser quickly got on the board, scoring their goal just 15 minutes into the match. Matteo Polisi, who scored the first goal, added his second in the 36th minute to stretch the lead to 2-0.
Before halftime, the Saints managed to get on the board when
Jason Fairhurst put a ball top right corner on a ball from
Brandon Madsen.
The second half however went all Simon Fraser's way. The Clan scored the third goal in the 53rd minute, and kicked the game with goals in the 64th and 75th minute. The final goal of the match completed the hat trick for Polisi.
The loss marks the first in three weeks for the Saints. Saint Martin's heads back over the border and will face Western Washington on Saturday. Kick-off is slotted for 7:00 p.m. with live stats and video available on smusaints.com.
