Seawolves Catch Fire Against Saints

LACEY, Wash. – Alaska Anchorage could not miss from outside the ark, landing 18 3-pointers in their 96-57 victory over Saint Martin's on Saturday night.

CJ Jennings continued to play well on the offensive end of the floor, leading the way with 23 points, and six made 3-pointers. Saint Martin's got off to a hot start, shooting 65 percent from the field in the first 10 minutes of the game. However, Alaska Anchorage never cooled off during the 40 minutes, and had five different players score 10 or more points.

Jennings and John Moore kicked off the Saints' offense, knocking down multiple 3-pointers, and helping the Saints to a quick 9-3 lead. Alaska Anchorage responded with a 16-to-2 run and never looked back.

Over the course of the first half, Alaska Anchorage managed to extend their lead to as many as 18. Eleven 3-pointers provided the spark for the Seawolves as the team shot 45 percent from the floor, 50 percent beyond the arc, and 7-for-7 at the free throw line. Saint Martin's struggled to find their footing on the glass, allowing 10 offensive rebounds, while grabbing 12 boards total.

The second half continued to feature lights-out shooting from the Seawolves. Alaska Anchorage connected for outstanding 58 percent from the floor and 47 percent beyond the arc. The offense proved to be too much for the Saints as the Seawolves cruised to the critical GNAC victory.

Saint Martin's Alex Schumacher was the only other Saint to reach double-digits in scoring, ending with 10 and five rebounds. Moore added nine points, and four rebounds, while Marky Adams finished with five points, and four boards.

Saint Martin's returns to action on the road next week, traveling to Western Oregon on Thursday, January 9. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. with live stats and video available on smusaints.com.
