Strong Bullpen Game Seals Victory For Saints In Series Split - The Saints took an early lead over the Hawks in the final game, holding a 5-0 lead by the third inning. However, Holy Names took the lead in the fourth, which the Saints quickly shut down with three runs in the fifth. Jacob Woodall and Drew Rose came in to combine for five shutout innings to seal the victory 8-7 and force a split in the four-game series.
 
Saints Split Pair With Holy Names The Saints seemed to have this game in the bag early on, jumping out to two leads, scoring two runs each in the first and third innings. However, the Hawks answered back with runs of their own each time. In the final inning with the Saints in the lead 7-6 after scoring three runs in the ninth, the Hawks answered yet again with two runs for the victory.
 
In the second game, Saint Martin's got runs on the board quick, scoring one in the first inning. Harrison Goebel recorded 5 shutout innings to hold the Saints' lead. After the Saints added to their lead, the Hawks responded with runs of their own to keep them in the game. Clutch insurance runs and a save by Justice Yamashita closed out the game for a 5-3 victory.
 
Saints Drop Opening Day Game Against Holy Names Opening day for the Saints did not go as planned, falling to Holy Names 9-1 in the first game of the series. Tanner Inouye got the start for Saint Martin's and went only three plus innings, while allowing seven runs on seven hits, and three punch outs. The Saints fell behind and were held scoreless by the fifth inning (9-0). The Saints scored their lone run in the sixth while allowing zero runs in the final three innings.
 
Renaud Back In Full Force – Renaud started off the 2020 season with a bang, beginning the weekend on Friday with two hits off of four at-bats in the first of the four game series against Holy Names. In the second game, he scored one run and finished with one RBI while reaching base two times on walks. He helped lead the Saints to victory in the third and fourth games, scoring one of the Saints runs, two hits, and reached base twice on walks. Renaud now marks second in the GNAC leaderboard for batting average, recording .462 for the week.
 
Fresh On Scene – New to the team, Finnley Butler, Jacob Woodall, and Drew Rose have proven to make their mark early in the season with a combined 8.1 shutout innings while accumulating five total strikeouts. Jacob Woodall, a freshman from Anchorage, Alaska, made his mark with three shutout innings, allowing only two hits to help lead the Saints to victory. Finnley Butler who comes from Boise, Idaho, finished the first game of the series giving up only three hits, and no runs after pitching three innings. Rose, a freshman from South Bend, Washington, earned his first career save and three strikeouts on two innings pitched. 
 
Stand Em' Up Sit Em' Down – Senior transfer Harrison Goebel punched out seven batters in 5.1 strong innings, while allowing only one run on three hits in the third game of the Holy Names series. Goebel now ranks fourth in the GNAC in strikeouts per nine innings with 11.81.

Saints' Baseball Voted Fourth In GNAC Preseason Coaches' Poll – A season removed from reaching the program's first GNAC Championship game, the Saints were ranked fourth in the GNAC Preseason Coaches' Poll on Friday. Defending GNAC Champions, Montana State Billings, earned the first place ranking with four first place votes and 33 points total. Western Oregon, who nabbed one first place vote, followed closely behind with 31 points. Northwest Nazarene earned third overall with 22 points. Central Washington and Saint Martin's tied for fourth overall with 15 points, and Concordia rounded out the group with 10 points.
 
Season Preview – Saint Martin's returns a core of key players from last year's squad, headlined by All-Region pitcher Tanner Inouye. Inouye went 4-6 with a 4.58 ERA while striking out 87 in 72.2 innings of work. Inouye threw two completed games in 13 starts.
 
On the offensive side, All-Conference first baseman Aaron Renaud leads the lineup with a .319 batting average, one home run, and 26 RBIs. Joining him in the infield is All-Conference shortstop Ryne Oshiro, and All-Conference third baseman Micah McNicoll. Oshiro is coming off a .283 season with three home runs and 22 RBIs. McNicoll developed into a .282 hitter with two home runs, and 16 RBIs.
 
Saint Martin's will also bring back their backstop from last season, Bryant Nakagawa. The junior catcher posted a .227 batting average, with three extra base hits, and 17 hits.
 
Other notable returners from last season include infielder Isaac Hegamin and Dakota Hill, along with outfielders Cody Chavis, Elijiah Santiago, and Hunter Holmason.
 
On the rubber, Saint Martin's will have familiar arms in Benjamin Wadowski, and Zach Alcos to add to Inouye.
 
The Saints bring in many new faces for the 2020 season including six position players, and 14 pitchers.
