Crimp Jumps Out To Hot Start To Spring Season At UPS Invitational

DUPONT, Wash. – The winter break did not cool off the hot start Kathryn Crimp was having to her freshman campaign. Crimp opened the Spring season with team-best 76, and tied for second overall at the opening round of the Puget Sound Invitational.

Crimp once again was at the front of the back for the Saints, leading the way with a 76. She ended the day only three strokes off the lead, and will have a shot at winning medalist tomorrow in the final round.
 
Michaela Morris was second on the team with her score of 85, followed by Madie Prigge at 86. Morris sits eighth overall in the field, while Prigge is tied for ninth.
 
Jada French and Hoku Nagamine tied for fourth on the team, and 11th overall on the leaderboard with their first round scores of 88.
 
"After the first round today we have put ourselves in a position to win the tournament, and to do that we will need everyone to step up their game which we can do," said head coach Bob Grisham. "Kathryn's 76 was highlighted by playing the back 9 at even par, and she has put herself in position to win the tournament which makes tomorrow's final round a fun one."
 
The Saints as a team shot 335, which placed them third overall in the field, and only two strokes off the lead for first in the tournament. The second and final round of the event is scheduled to start tomorrow, Sunday, March 8.
