First Half Deficit Proves Too Much for Saints
LACEY, Wash. – Saint Martin's hosted a fast-paced Warner Pacific team that struck early and often to defeat the Saints, 4-1.
The Knights got out to an early lead with a goal in the 1st minute of play. SMU responded in the 6th minute of the match with a spectacular long-range goal from
Caden Martin from outside the box. WPU then widened their lead with three more goals in the first half to take a 4-1 lead into the break.
This score would hold up through the second half of play as Saint Martin's managed to contain Warner Pacific but could not cut into the deficit with goals of their own.
The Saints had 11 shots and of those
Arjun Gill,
Eric Bell,
Angel Alvarado-Fajardo, and
Jay Mendoza had the shots on goal.
Bryce Porter had six saves in the match.
The Saints will be back in GNAC play and on the road for their next match this Saturday, October 16 at 1:00 PM against Northwest Nazarene. Live stats and video of the matches will be available on smusaints.com.
