Second Half Goal Leads Western Washington Past Saints

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Saint Martin's was controlled with their attack against the Vikings' defense, landing five of the seven shots on target. However, SMU was unable to find the back of the net, while Western Washington sealed the match with a goal in the 61st minute.
 
Neither side gave an inch in the opening half with Western Washington (9-1-2, 6-1-0) recording eight shots to the Saints' (3-8-0, 2-5-0) four. Rebecca Garrison landed the first shot of the game for SMU in the 20th minute right on goal. Sosna Araya's shot just 13 minutes later went bottom center right to the arms of the Western keeper.
 
Saint Martin's rifled off two final shots in the closing moments of the first half, starting with Elisabeth Cole in the 40th. Garrison added her second in the 43rd, but the match remained scoreless heading into half.
 
It was Western Washington who struck first in the second half, proving to be game-winning goal. Jenna Killman of Western Washington scored her fourth goal of the season to put WWU on top. Justine Pauly's top left miss, and Cole's top shelf shot was stopped to secure the win for the Vikings.
 
Ali Campigotto played all 90 minutes in goal for the Saints, facing 12 shots, and making six saves on the night. Cole led the team with three shots, two on frame, followed by Garrison with two, and Araya, and Pauly at one.
