MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Emily Gooding's 15 kills powered the Saints to a convincing 3-1 road victory over Linfield on Tuesday night.
Saint Martin's (8-11) snapped a six-game losing stretch with their 3-1 result. Gooding continued her double-digit kill streak, stretching it to four straight matches. As a team, Saint Martin's collected 49 kills on 19 errors for a .207 hitting percentage.
Tia Allen ended with nine kills, and 15 digs, with
Analise Hitchcock adding 40 assists, and
Kylie Alos' 23 digs.
Linfield (4-12) led the early goings of the opening set 11-6 before SMU ultimately rallied back to their take a 19-18 lead. Both sides traded the lead back-and-forth down the stretch until the Saints capped off the set with three straight points, highlighted by two kills from Allen.
Saint Martin's used a 6-0 run early, and a 5-0 run mid-way through the set to jump out and take the second set.
Gracie Brenner and Gooding finished off the frame with back-to-back kills to put SMU up 2-0.
Linfield forced a fourth set with a 25-18 result, but the momentum did not last long. Saint Martin's quickly found their stride again the final set, coasting to a 25-12 match victory.
