BURNABY, British Columbia – Simon Fraser struck quick, and efficiently, scoring two goals in the opening 12 minutes to overcome Saint Martin's on Saturday night.
Conrad Cheng of Simon Fraser (8-5-0, 5-2-0) quickly put SFU up 1-0 in the first 46 seconds of the match. Simon Fraser struck again in the 12th minute with a goal from Bjorn Borren. Saint Martin's put shots on target from
Arjun Gill, and shots from
Jason Fairhurst, and
Stephen Murray in the first half.
Saint Martin's recorded four more shots in the second half but was unable to find the back of the net. Simon Fraser buckled down defensively and held on for the 2-0 victory.
Hunter Askland got the start in goal, recording three saves on 13 shots faced. Fairhurst took four of the Saints' eight shots, with four different Saints recording one each.
