Yellowjackets Hold Off Saints' MSOC To Begin Roadtrip

BILLINGS, Mont. – Saint Martin's offense went cold on the road against Montana State Billings, who used an early first half goal to knock off the Saints 3-0.

Just six minutes into the match, Montana State Billings (3-4-1, 1-1-0) struck with a goal from Halil Yilmaz to take the early lead. Saint Martin's (1-8-0, 0-3-0) was limited in opportunities to tie in the first half, with one shot coming from Cole Mattson on target, and Ethan Jud missing right.

The Saints started to find more of their flow in the second half, collecting 8 shots, but were still unable to find the back of the net. Despite the opportunities, it was the Yellowjackets who scored once again, sealing the game on the second goal of the day from Yilmaz. MSUB added one final goal with 20 seconds left to coast to a 3-0 victory.

Saint Martin's collected nine shots in the game, led by Mattson, Jud, David Settle, Jason Fairhurst, and Caden Martin with two each. Hunter Askland got the start in goal, allowing three goals on 21 shots, with six saves.

The Saints return to action on Saturday, traveling to Seattle Pacific to face the nationally ranked Falcons. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:30 PM with live stats and video available on smusaints.com.
