LACEY,
Wash. – Saint Martin's controlled every aspect of the game in their 3-0 victory over Simon Fraser on Thursday afternoon.
After the match was moved just hours before kick-off to a field off campus, the Saints (4-13-0, 3-10-0) wasted no time finding their flow offensively. Goals from
Rebecca Garrison,
Jordyn Jolley, and
Maddie Wolff helped the Saints end a nine-game skid. Simon Fraser (4-10-2, 4-7-1) struggled all afternoon to find anything that worked against the Saints' defense, being limited to seven shots, two on frame, and no goals.
Garrison got the action started in the 26th minute, scoring on a header from the middle of the box on a ball from
Taylor Goodpaster out wide. The Saints continued to put pressure on SFU for the remainder of the first half, holding on to a 1-0 lead.
The Saints quickly pounced on SFU in the second half, scoring just 85 seconds into the action. Jolley rose above the defenders on a corner, scoring her second goal of the match.
Then in the 62nd minute, Wolff capped off the day with her fourth goal of the season, this one on another corner kick from
Payton Aselton. Aselton finished the match with two assists.
Ali Campigotto got the start in goal, recording her second shutout of the season, facing seven shots with two saves.
The Saints finish their 2021 season on Saturday, November 6 at 2:30 PM at Black Hills High School.
