Saints Salvage Doubleheader Split Behind Inouye's Gem - After the Yellowjackets on Montana State Billings dropped 18 in the opener, the Saints survived a late-inning scare and secure the doubleheader split with a 7-6 result on Friday.

MSU Billings (1-13, 1-5 GNAC) exploded in the first game, scoring 18 runs, highlighted by a three-run game for Daniel Cipriano. On the day, the Yellowjackets slugged 10 home runs on the day to fuel their offense. In the second game, Tanner Inouye silenced the Jackets' bats for most of the game until the final inning. Saint Martin's (4-4, 1-1 GNAC) managed to close the door in the seventh and hold on to a 7-to-6 victory.

Late Power Surge Comes Up Short For Saints In Loss – Despite a late home run surge by the Saints, Montana State Billings came away with two victories, and the series win on Sunday.

The Saints (4-6, 1-3 GNAC) belted four home runs in the second game, including three in the final two innings of the second game. However, the Yellowjackets' (3-13, 3-5 GNAC) offense had built up enough of a padding to survive, 9-to-6, the comeback attempt. MSU Billings used a seven run sixth inning to take the front end of the doubleheader 11-to-4.

Power At The PlateAaron Renaud was already regarded as one of the top hitters in the GNAC entering 2021, but the sophomore has taken another leap forward. Entering the week, the lefty is second in the GNAC in slugging (.963) and boast a GNAC second best 1.477 OPS.

Anchors In The Infield – The Saints will enter 2021 led by their All-Conference first baseman Aaron Renaud and shortstop Ryne Oshiro. Renaud ranked third in the GNAC last year in batting average at .392 while Oshiro was second in RBIs at 16.

Ace On The Mound – GNAC All-Conference and D2CCA All-Region selection in 2019, Tanner Inouye, returns to led the Saints' pitching staff. This year, Inouye ranks 5th in ERA at 4.72 and strikeouts at 18.

Breaking RecordsTanner Inouye's 87 strike outs in 2019 stands the single season record in program history. Entering the year, Inouye is only 12 strikeouts (184) away from breaking the school record for most career strikeouts. The record is currently held by Mickey Walker (196).

Making History – The Saints' 2019 GNAC Championship run was one for the record books. Earning their first GNAC playoff berth since 2014, the Saints won their first ever game in the playoffs, and reached their first ever GNAC Championship game, where they fell to top seed Montana State Billings.
