ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Saints punched in three first half goals on Central Washington and let at halftime. In the 70th minute Central Washington tied the game and squeezed out the victory with a goal in double overtime to win four-to-three on Saturday afternoon.
The offense began quick and plentiful with a goal in the fourth minute by the Wildcats to take a quick 1-0 lead. Saint Martin's responded just minutes later with a goal from
Taylor Goodpaster to equalize with the assist from
Rachel Kimura.
Leading scorer for the Saints,
Kiersten Madsen, scored once again on a penalty kick to give the Saints the lead in the 16th minute. The goal was her fifth of the season and the third from PK's.
After a goal in the 19th minute by Central Washington,
Lexi Caceres put the Saints back on top three-to-two with a goal right before halftime.
However, in the 57th minute The Saints were forced to play a player down and the Wildcats managed to tie the game just minutes later with a goal.
Neither side was able to capture a lead before regulation ended, sending the match to overtime. In the first overtime. The Saints had a couple opportunities to end the game but were unable to convert. The Wildcats, just two minutes in to the second overtime, completed the comeback and won 4-to-3.
