Saints Drop Battle Against Falcons

Courtney Misner

LACEY, Wash. – The Saints struck early against the Falcons, but Seattle Pacific responded with three straight goals to take home the win on Wednesday night.

The Saints jumped out to an early lead over the Falcons, scoring in the 10th minute off a beautiful pass into the box from Seth Kobata to Jason Fairhurst who headed the ball into the corner of the net.

SMU held this lead for the next twelve minutes, until SPU found a hole in Saint Martin's defense in the 23rd minute off a deflected shot for an equalizing goal.

Tied 1-1, the Falcons added one more to their lead in the first half and continued this momentum in the second half just three minutes in for another goal.

The Saints connected on six shots to the Falcons' 15. Hunter Askland played in goal for the Saints, making four saves in the first half, and ended with a total of six saves to record a career high.

The Saints will continue at home Saturday, May 1 for the last home game of the season. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. with live stats and video at smusaints.com.
