Electric Offense Leads Charge In Series Split Against Central Washington

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – A high scoring effort by the Saints in the opening game secured the series split with Central Washington on Sunday.

It did not take the Saints long to get the bats going in the opener, as Ryne Oshiro began the day with a two-run home run to right field. RBIs by Michael Yamaguchi and Reid Little made it a 4-0 ball game in the first.

Little added to his line in the fourth and the sixth inning with a couple more RBIs. Aaron Renaud dealt a solo blast in the seventh and capped off the day for the Saints with an RBI double in the eighth as Saint Martin's secured the 10-5 win.

Finnley Butler got the start for the Saints, going four innings before Kameron Richards earned the win after going four innings out of the pen. Cole Hatton tossed the final shutout inning with one strikeout.

In the second game, Central Washington used two three-run innings to jump out to a 7-3 lead. Saint Martin's got on the board with an RBI from Yamaguchi, followed by run production from Austin Schaler and Little.

The Saints put together a seventh-inning rally, scoring runs on hits from Dakota Hill, and Cody Chavis to cut the score to 8-5. With the tying-run at the plate, Central Washington squeezed out of the jam on a fielder's choice.

The Saints improved to 9-20 on the season, and 4-8 in GNAC action, and travel down to Western Oregon for a four-game series next weekend.
