SEATTLE, Wash. – The Saint Martin's men's basketball team (13-4, 5-2 GNAC) have their first losing streak of the season after falling by a score of 92-87 to Seattle Pacific (12-5, 7-1 GNAC) on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints held a four-point advantage at halftime but were slimmed in the second half when the Falcons tied up the game late, then Shaw Anderson scored the final five straight to give SPU the win.
It was a diverse scoring effort for SMU with five different players scoring in double figures including both
Champ Spencer and
Tyke Thompson with 14 off the bench. Thompson also added seven boards. Despite playing just 14 minutes,
Shakeem Alcindor led the way in scoring with 16, while Kyle Greely added 14 and
Branden Bunn chipped in with 11.
Jaden Nielsen-Skinner led the other major stat categories with eight rebounds and six assists.
The Saints are back at home this week as they take on the Alaska schools, starting with Alaska-Fairbanks (7-8, 2-5 GNAC) on Thursday, January 19
th. Tipoff is schedule for 7:30 PM following the conclusion of the women's game.
