LACEY, Wash. – The Saint Martin's women's soccer team (2-0-1) stayed undefeated Sunday afternoon with a 4-1 win over The Evergreen State College.
Mia Fleming had a goal and an assist as the Saints outshot the Geoducks 30-1 in the convincing victory.
It didn't take long to get the scoring started when
Rose Ivanis whipped a corner into the box that was deflected by
Jamine Biava before Fleming redirected it on frame. The 7
th minute goal put SMU up early. Late in the first half a flurry of goals happened within the span of a few minutes. First,
Nora Melcher scored her first career goal with
Kaeli Ploettner and
Alia Khoyi collecting the assists. Just one minute later, it was
Sierra Nees that put it away off of Khoyi's second assist of the day. Evergreen caught the Saints napping and scored one in the next minute, making it 3-1 at the half.
In the second half,
Inara Lopes put in her first goal as a Saint to place the cherry on top and finish the scoring at 4-1. Fleming found the grad transfer to finish off the route which had SMU outnumber the Geoducks on corner kicks 13-0, and shots on goal 16-1.
The Saints are back home Sunday when they battle Colorado school Regis on the Saints Soccer Field. That contest is slated for 1 PM.
