LANGLEY, BRITISH COLUMBIA — Saint Martin's Men's Basketball (1-0) kicked off their regular season at the CCA Canadian Tip Off against Cal State San Bernardino, who came into the season ranked #14 and was the #3 team in the NCAA Preseason "Power 10" Rankings.
SMU would open the game with a balanced offensive attack that they would keep for the entire game, spearheaded by returners
Diego Trejo-Delgado and
Myles Samuels. Trejo-Delgado would contribute from the jump and would end up notching a team-high 19 points while Samuels would follow closely behind with 17 points, along with seven rebounds.
Dae'Kwon Watson and
Jayshawn Moore would also help the scoring effort by contributing 16 points each throughout the game. The Saints were able to stay in control of the game for most of its duration, as the balanced attack and productive shooting would keep the Coyotes at arms-length. SMU would lead 44-34 at halftime and would not slow down after the break, as they would extend their lead to as many as 17 points during the second half. The Saints would prevent CSUSB from mounting any sort of comeback go on to win 90-81.
Jaden Nielsen-Skinner would be the main ball-distributor for the Saints, ending the game with six total assists. Saint Martin's would end the game with a three-point percentage of 52.9 and would go 49.2% from the field overall.
