Box Score 3 LA GRANDE, Oreg. – The Saint Martin's baseball team played three games against Eastern Oregon on Friday and Saturday, and while they lost the first two, they had an exciting finale resulting in a 7-6 win.
It looked like Saint Martin's was gonna take the opener after a building a quick 3-0 lead thanks to two different RBI hits from
Damon Ingram and a steal of home, also by Ingram. In the fifth,
Austin Schaler pelted a home run and right after him,
Mark Steward had a round-tripper as well. Ingram continued his destruction in the sixth with a three-run blast, bringing his total to five RBIs in the contest.
Cole Hatton started the game and went 4.1 innings. In the end, it was a solo home run that pushed EOU over SMU in game one by a score of 9-8.
Game two had the Mounties all over the Saints with a 10-0 seven inning victory. Schaler and
Peter Hollabaugh each had a hit in the game.
Saint Martin's finally found the upper hand in game three, despite falling down 3-0 in the first.
Dylan McLaughlin helped lead the comeback with three RBIs on two hits, including a double, while
Rylen Miyasaki had a two-run double in the second. With the help of a
Jonathan Shimabukuro RBI, the Saints had just enough to get the win. Collin Driscoll pitched four innings, allowing zero earned runs, and striking out four. Nikki Scott will get credit for the win, going three innings, and
Sam McCauley pitched the final two innings and should get the save.
The Saints head to Hawaii next week where they start their run of games with a doubleheader versus Hawaii-Hilo on Thursday, February 8
th at 2 PM.
