Another Outstanding Meet for T&F

Monmouth, OR – The Saint Martin's University Men's and Women's Track and Field had one of their best tracks meets as a team this past Friday at Western Oregon University. The Men's team scored 73 points to place 5th out of 13 teams and Ethan Guidry was the GNAC player of the week. The Women's team scored 55.5 points to place 4th out of 14 teams.
 
The Men's Field Events had many highlights, these are some of the highlights for the Saints. In the field events the men were led by Ethan Guidry who placed 1st in the javelin, throwing a huge 12-foot personal record of 61.01 meters (200'2''). His distance ranks him 24th in the nation in NCAA Division II and is a national provisional qualifier. In the long jump, Andrew Schulz (3rd place) soared to 21'6.25"and Hewson Nguyen (5th place) jumped a season best of 21'0'' to pick up more points for the Saints. In the pole vault, Ryan Doidge (3rd place) vaulted 14'1.25" and Andrew Boyd vaulted to 5th place, continuing the scoring for the Saints. Conner Olmstead high jumped to 3rd place, scoring 6 more points for the men. The next set of highlights are from the men's track events. On the track, the men were led by 3rd place finishes in the 4 x 100m relay (Hewson Nguyen, Ashton Rodriguez, Kenneth Carter, and Zachary Franco) and the 4 x 400m relay (Zachary Franco, Matt Cooper, Kainalu Pagente, and Connor Olmstead). Individually, the men where lead by Eli Dale's 3rd place finish in the 3000m Steeplechase, in his first steeple race of his career. In performance of the day was Kainalu's Pagente's 3.3 second personal record in the 800m in 1:52.58, which placed him sixth overall, in what was the fastest 800m race in NCAA DII this year. Kainalu currently ranks 41st in NCAA DII and 7th in the GNAC. Andrew Boyd continued his busy multi-event day to score more points for the men, placing 4th in the 400m hurdles. There were many accomplishments once again with this men's track team these included personal records set by Noah Boyd (200m), Zachary Franco (100m), Noe Ortega (800m), Matt Cooper (800m), Jaydon Blackburn (800m), and Jaskaran Dhatt (3000mSC).

The Women's Field Event has some highlights as well from there meet. In the field events the women were led by Jocelyn Saribay's 3rd place hammer throw personal record of 47.28m (155'1"), which ranks her 73rd in NCAA DII; and her 6th place in the shot put. Claire Skagg's 5th place pole vault finish continued to score for the women's team. Additional field event highlights personal record set by Vanessa Bledsoe (hammer throw). The Women's Track Event also had some great highlights which included on the track, the women were led by Madison Vu's 2nd place in the 400m, running a personal record of 58.38 and then coming back in the 200m to place 4th. Cassidy Walchak-Sloan 2nd place in the 800m, running 2:14.17, which ranks 5th in the GNAC and 41st in NCAA DII.  Gabriella Cintron (2nd place) in the 100 hurdles.  Alisha Saucedo (3rd place) in the 800m, running 2:15.79, which ranks 7th in the conference and 70th in NCAA DII. The women picked up 8 more points in the 5000m with Sara Sabra placing 3rd and Kya Ramirez placing 7th in a huge 14 second personal record of 18:29.04. Additional highlights in her first track race of her life, Mira Jayarama ran a tremendous 5000m in 20:57.48.
