LACEY, WA — Seven members of the Saint Martin's baseball team have been honored with All-Conference accolades from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
Colin Driscoll was the sole first-team nominee after his most impressive season yet with the Saints, as the senior pitched a career-best 3.17 ERA through 71 innings. He was a force on the mound, tallying 58 total strikeouts on the year.
Three senior staples of the team were included on the 2024 GNAC baseball second-team.
Dylan McLaughlin got a nod with an impressive .325 batting average, 49 hits, and 24 RBIs while being a staple on the hot corner for the Saints.
Austin Schaler showed out during the 2024 season, as his elite defensive skills in the outfield, .284 batting average, and 22 RBIs earned him a spot on the All-Conference list.
Trevor McCorkle was the final Saint mentioned for GNAC second-team honors as a designated hitter with a .348 batting average and 18 RBIs, which made him a staple of the batting lineup throughout the season.
Peter Hollabaugh,
Mark Steward, and
Justice Yamashita made the list as All-Conference honorable mentions. Hollabaugh, a freshman, had a breakout season as a utility player while seniors Steward and Yamashita make each of their third appearances on the All-GNAC list in their collegiate careers.
Head Coach
Kelly Gau is proud of all seven nominees and is thankful for their contributions to the Saints Baseball program.
"We are proud of these seven guys for receiving the honors that they deserved. Driscoll was a rock in our rotation and spun some of the more impressive games in the time that we've been here, whether near no-hitters or high strikeout games. Schaler was a jack of all trades, providing web gem after web gem, while being a consistent table setter with a penchant for the providing power in big moments. McLaughlin was consistent with his OBP and RBI numbers hitting in our two-hole, being at the top of conference in doubles, and coming through clutch in run scoring opportunities. McCorkle battled injury early on and solidified his place in the lineup earning all the opportunities that he had, being DH is a tough role and his power and RBI numbers helped us in numerous ways. Hollabaugh had a good start to his career at 3B, 1B, and DH while being in the top third of players within our conference in many offensive categories. Steward has been steady throughout his career on both sides of the ball and we felt his defensive statistics this year proved to be some of the best our conference has seen in a while. Yamashita has had a storied career and although his overall numbers weren't of this best seasons thrown, he still proved dominant in shutting down the top teams within conference within his starts."
