LACEY, Wash. — The Saint Martin's Men's Basketball team notched an emphatic victory in the team's 2025-26 home opener, defeating Evergreen State 107-53.
The Saints shot 51.3% from the field as a team, and held a commanding 57-36 lead in rebounding. Seven SMU players finished in double figures in a strong team effort by the Saints. The win improved SMU's record to 3-1 on the season.
How It Happened
- The Saints built an early lead and never looked back, going ahead by double-digits (18-8) at the 15:05 mark.
- The Geoducks pulled within six points at the 9:41 mark (25-19), but the Saints bounced back with a huge run to close out the first half. SMU closed the half on a 34-8 run, leading 59-27 at the break. Saint Martin's shot 51.1% in the first half and limited Evergreen State to 10-29 (34.5%) from the field and 1-13 from three-point range.
- Saint Martin's shot 18-25 (51.4%) from three-point range in the second half and limited Evergreen State to 10-35 (28.57%), as SMU's lead continued to grow.
- The Saints out scored the Geoducks 48-26 in the second half, en route to a commanding victory in front of the home crowd at Marcus Pavilion.
