TURLOCK, Calif. — The Saint Martin's Men's Basketball was victorious on the road tonight at Stanislaus State, defeating the Warriors by a final score of 97-56.
The Saints shot stellar as a team and saw a strong offensive output, marking the team's third game scoring 90 or more points through six games this season. The win improved SMU's record on the season to 4-2 overall.
How It Happened
First Half
- Dae'Kwon Watson led the charge for the Saints in an effective first half, as the senior scored 20 points off 6-11 shooting and added three steals.
- The Saints shot stellar from the field, going 17-34 (50%) overall and 9-16 (56.3%) from three-point range.
- After Stanislaus State took a narrow 9-7 lead early into the game, Saint Martin's embarked on an emphatic 19-2 run to jump ahead 26-11 at the 13:46 mark of the first half.
- A three-pointer by Ronyo Obou at the 9:40 mark saw the Saints extend their lead to over 20 points (37-15).
- SMU led by as much as 27 in the first half, and went into the break leading 49-30.
Second Half
- The first score of the second half was a three-pointer by Kaden Hansen, which pushed SMU's lead back to over 20 points (52-30).
- The Saints held a steady, comfortable lead throughout the second half, as a jumper by Diego Trejo-Delgado with 9:42 remaining in regulation pushed the SMU advantage to 72-45. Trejo-Delgado added two free-throws to extend the lead to 74-45 with 8:48 remaining, SMU's largest lead of the contest.
- The Saints continued to extend the lead down the stretch, limiting Stanislaus State to 26 points in the second half off 28.1% shooting. SMU shot 48.5% in the final 20 minutes, and saw its lead grow to over 40 points. Saint Martin's controlled the tempo down the stretch and won by a final score of 97-56.

- Dae'Kwon Watson finished with a game-high 30 points, which is a season best and two points shy of tying a career best. He shot 9-17 (52.9%) from the field and 5-10 (50%) from three-point range, while going 7-7 at the free-throw line. He also finished with three steals, three rebounds, and one block.
