Box Score 2 WAIPAHU, Hawaii — The Saint Martin's Baseball team drew a 1-1 split in its doubleheader against Hawaii Pacific on Thursday, February 5.
Both games were low-scoring battles, with each team combining for three runs on the day. A huge three-run first inning in game two helped the Saints grab their second non-conference victory of the year. The doubleheader moved the Saints' record to 2-3 on the season.
Game 1: Saint Martin's 0, Hawaii Pacific 2
- In a low-scoring pitcher's dual, a home run in the seventh inning was the deciding factor for a 2-0 Sharks victory.
- The Saints worked runners to second and third in the top of the first inning with two outs off of a walk, hit by pitch, and double steal, but were unable to score any runs.
- Nikki Scott II pitched 6.2 scoreless innings, as neither team scored a run through the first six innings.
- In the top of the sixth, Zen Staszkow and Noah Albanese were both hit by a pitch, before Evan Nicol drew a walk to load the bases. However, the Saints were unable to score any runs in the inning.
- In the top of the seventh, a single by Zen Staszkow moved Kyle Schabot to third, but Schabot was thrown out trying to score, ending the frame with the score still knotted at 0-0.
- With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Hawaii Pacific drilled a two-run home run to left field, putting the Saints behind 2-0.
- The Saints were unable to get on base in the final two innings, falling by a final score of 2-0.
Top Performers
- Nikki Scott II pitched 6.2 innings, allowing two runs off six hits. He struck out one batter.
- Zen Staszkow went 1-1 and drew one walk.
Game 2: Saint Martin's 3, Hawaii Pacific 1
- The Saints started strong in the first inning, as two singles moved runners to first and second with one out. Later in the inning, Cole Yonamine doubled, scoring Evan Nicol and Bransyn Hong.
- Two at-bats later, Kyle Schabot singled to score Yonamine, giving the Saints a 3-0 lead.
- In both the second and third innings, the Saints moved a runner to third, but were unable to score the base runner.
- The Saints held the Sharks scoreless until the sixth inning, when Hawaii Pacific scored a run off a sacrifice fly to cut the Saint Martin's lead to 3-1.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Hawaii Pacific moved runners to first and second with one out, but Luke Fulkerson struck out the final two batters to clinch the victory for Saint Martin's.

- Cole Yonamine totaled one hit, two RBIs, and one run.
- Peter Hollabaugh pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, striking out four batters.
- Luke Fulkerson pitched 5.1 innings, allowing one run off three hits and striking out six batters.
