SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — The Saint Martin's Volleyball team was swept against No. 25 Cal State San Bernardino on the final day of the CSUSB Yotes Classic Showcase on Saturday, August 29.
The Saints held a late lead in set one, but fell 25-16 in both of the ensuing frames to fall in consecutive sets. The loss dropped the Saints' record to 2-2 on the year.
How It Happened
- The first set was neck-and-neck, as the teams played out an 11-11 draw midway through. A 4-0 run put Saint Martin's ahead 19-16, before CSUSB bounced back with a 6-1 run that put the Saints behind 22-20. Saint Martin's pushed within 22-23 with a kill by Emily Garten late in the set, but the Coyotes won the last two points to win the set 25-22.
- Saint Martin's held an early 5-3 lead in the second set, but a 6-1 run put Cal State San Bernardino up 9-6. The Saints remained within striking distance, until the Coyotes rattled off five straight points to end the set 25-16.
- Saints Martin's saw its highest hitting percentage (.294) in the third set, but found themselves down 18-6 midway through. Saint Martin's saw late 3-1 and 3-0 rallies, but ultimately fell 25-16.

The Saints will travel to Hawaii to compete at the Hawaii Challenge on Sept. 3-5. Saint Martin's will face Chaminade, Hawaii Pacific, Hawaii Hilo, and Emmanuel University.
