BILLINGS, Mont. — The Saint Martin's Volleyball team notched a three-set victory at Montana State Billings on Thursday, September 17, earning the first GNAC victory of the 2026 season.
The victory improved the Saints' record to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
How It Happened
- The first set was neck-and-neck, but the Saints held a 19-13 advantage in kills and hit .295 as a team. After the Saints held an early three-point lead, the teams played out a 10-10 tie midway through. Saint Martin's trailed by two points midway through, but the Saints fought back and began exchanging the lead back and forth with the Yellowjackets. After the set was tied 21-21, Saint Martin's surged ahead and won 25-23, with the final point coming off a kill by Emily Garten.
- Saint Martin's hit .250 in the second set and built an early 12-7 advantage. The Saints led by as much as six points and held a steady lead for the majority of the frame, before pulling away to win 25-21, again clinching the set on a kill by Emily Garten.
- The third set was close, as neither team held more than a two-point lead until the Saints pulled ahead 13-10 midway through. Saint Martin's pulled ahead 19-16, before a 5-0 run by the Yellowjackets put MSUB ahead 21-19. The Saints trailed 23-21, before bouncing back with an emphatic 4-0 to close out a 25-23 third-set victory to clinch a sweep.
