No. 10 Western Oregon Escapes Saints' Comeback - Despite falling behind early to tenth ranked Western Oregon, Saint Martin's, fueled by efforts off the bench, were able to chip away at Wolves' lead but ultimately fell short 79-71 inside Marcus Pavilion on Thursday night. Western Oregon (14-1, 6-1) led by as many as 17 in the first half; however, big performances by
BJ Standley,
Jordan Kitchen and
Cameron Chatwin allowed the Saints (10-5, 3-4) to trim the lead to as little as three in the closing minutes of the game. Western Oregon staved off the comeback attempt to secure their seventh consecutive victory.
10 Saints Score In Team Effort Victory Over Concordia - In a full team effort, as all 10 Saints scored, Saint Martin's controlled Concordia for a full 40 minutes en route to a 75-62 victory inside Marcus Pavilion on Saturday night. 10 Saints checked into the game, and 10 Saints got on the board, as Saint Martin's (11-5, 4-4) rolled Concordia (4-12, 0-8) and held the Cavaliers to only 62 points on 19-for-56 (33.9 percent) shooting.
Boyce Leads Saints On Boards Against Concordia – Boyce recorded a season-high seven rebounds to lead the team in the victory over Concordia. A major factor in the game was the Saints' ability to control the rebounding battle, outdoing their opponent 44-30, tying their largest margin of the season.
Fastest To 10-Win Mark – With the Saints picking up their 10th win of the season at Alaska Anchorage, in only their 13th game, it marked the shortest amount of time since the 2009-10 season.
EJ Boyce Leads Conference –
EJ Boyce leads the GNAC in 3-pointers made per game at 3.0 by knocking down 48 shots beyond the arc in 15 games. His 41.4 3-point field goal percentage is 16th best in the conference. Boyce also leads the conference in assists to turnover ratio, averaging 2.1 assists per turnover. On the year, Boyce is averaging 11.3 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 3.0 apg, 0.7 spg in 31.1 minutes per game.
Tavian Henderson Leads Conference –
Tavian Henderson leads the GNAC in field goal percentage at 76.7 percent. He has connected on 56 of his 73 shot attempts, after going 23-for-32 in the last three weeks of conference action. Henderson is averaging 8.3 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 1.4 apg, while playing 21.9 minutes per game.
Henderson Named Saint Of The Month – Every month, Saint Martin's names one male and one female athlete Saint of the Month. Henderson earned his first award after scoring in double-digits in four of the five games in December along with tying his season-high in rebounds with nine.
Seattle Pacific Preview – Before Western Oregon came to town and defeated SPU last week, the Falcons were riding a four-game win streak and had won six of their last seven. Seattle Pacific enters the game with a 10-5 record overall and 5-3 in conference and hosts a 4-2 record at home. For the last three games, the Falcons have been without their star player, Tony Miller, who averages 18.0 ppg and 6.2 rpg in 30 mpg. Without Miller, SPU has turned to Gavin Long and Nikhil Lizotte who enter the week at 11.9 and 10.8 ppg respectively. Long also brings a 53.0 field goal percentage and .67 bpg to the floor while Lizotte the Falcons' best weapon at the free throw line at 89.7 percent. Coleman Wooten is second on the team in boards at 6.4 rpg and averages 8.8 ppg while shooting 53.7 percent from the floor. The Saints will expect to see a lot of Nathan Streufuert (7.7 ppg, 6.7 rpg), and Gabe Colosimo (6.4 ppg, 2.3 rpg) throughout the game as well. Seattle Pacific averages 82.4 ppg on 48.0/37.7/69.7 shooting percentages, while allowing 77.3 ppg. The Falcons average 38.7 rpg, 15.1 apg on 12.8 turnovers per game, along with 4.1 spg, and 3.0 bpg.

Montana State Billings Preview – The Yellowjackets enter the week at 11-8 overall, and 3-5 in conference action and will travel to Seattle Pacific before heading down to Lacey. Montana State Billings is coming off a five point victory over Simon Fraser and a nine point loss to Western Washington at home. After missing nine games, the Yellowjackets returned their leading scorer Tyler Green (15.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg), who posted 22 points against SFU. Stepping up without Green was Zack Rollins, who is second on the team in scoring at 13.9 ppg, and leads the team in rebounding at 5.5 rpg. Running the Yellowjackets' offense is Kendall Denham with a team-leading 2.8 apg along with 12.1 ppg and 3.1 rpg. Another force down low is Zharon Richmond who brings 11.3 ppg and 5.2 rpg to the floor. Sven Jeuschede and Kamal Tall combine to average 16.0 ppg, and 8.2 rpg while only missing two starts total. MSUB as a team is averaging 82.1 ppg on a 47.3/39.9/74.4 shooting line while allowing 76.7 ppg. The Yellowjackets record 35.0 rpg, 15.5 apg on 17.0 turnovers per game, along with 6.2 spg, and 4.3 bpg.

GNAC Recap – For another week, Western Washington remains perfect at 8-0, and still holds the top spot in the GNAC standings. Western Oregon, who moved up to the No. 11 spot in the media poll last, improved to 7-1 in conference action with two road victories. Seattle Pacific and Alaska are now tied for the third spot at 5-3 in GNAC action. Saint Martin's and Northwest Nazarene round out the playoff spots at 4-4. Montana State Billings, Central Washington, and Alaska Anchorage remain only one game out from the playoffs at 3-5 while Simon Fraser (2-6) and Concordia (0-8) close out the standings.
