Saints Dominate Western Washington For Critical GNAC Win – The Saints needed to put together a complete 40-minute game to upset the No. 16 Western Washington on the road, and that is exactly what happened. Led by
Luke Chavez's 23 points and seven rebounds, Saint Martin's rolled the Vikings 94-82, the first loss for Western Washington in the GNAC. The Saints (14-5, 7-4) took the lead at the 15:14 mark in the first half and never looked back. SMU dominated the boards (36-24) against one of the best rebounding teams in the country in Western Washington (15-4, 10-1) along with five Saints hitting double-digits in scoring.
Saints Extend Win Streak To Five Games With Road Victory Over Simon Fraser – The Saints Men's Basketball team extended their win streak to five games, tied for the longest of the year, with a convincing 85-63 victory over Simon Fraser on the road. Saint Martin's (15-5, 8-4) has put together five straight wins with lights out shooting, including a 54.1 percent performance on Saturday, along with stellar defenses, holding Simon Fraser (9-11, 3-9) to only 37.1 percent from the field and 25.0 percent beyond the arc.
Luke Chavez Back-To-Back GNAC Player Of The Week – Receiving the award for back-to-back weeks and the third time this season, Chavez powered the Saints to road victories over No. 16 Western Washington and Simon Fraser. Chavez averaged 21.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.5 apg, and 1.5 spg, while shooting a blazing 56.7 percent from the field and 42.8 percent beyond the arc. Starting the week off against No. 16 Western Washington, who was undefeated in GNAC play, Chavez led all scorers with 23 points, along with seven rebounds and three assists. He followed up the performance with a 20-point, three rebounds, and four assists outing against Simon Fraser.
Fastest To 10-Win Mark – With the Saints picking up their 10th win of the season at Alaska Anchorage, in only their 13th game, it marked the shortest amount of time since the 2009-10 season.
EJ Boyce Leads Conference –
EJ Boyce leads the GNAC in 3-pointers made per game at 3.1 by knocking down 62 shots beyond the arc in 20 games. His 43.1 3-point field goal percentage is 11th best in the conference. On the year, Boyce is averaging 11.6 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.9 apg, 0.8 spg in 31.7 minutes per game.
Tavian Henderson Leads Conference –
Tavian Henderson leads the GNAC in field goal percentage at 77.2 percent. He has connected on 71 of his 92 shot attempts, while shooting a perfect 1.000 percent in eight games. Henderson is averaging 8.2 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.4 apg, while playing 22.1 minutes per game.
Henderson Named Saint Of The Month – Every month, Saint Martin's names one male and one female athlete Saint of the Month. Henderson earned his first award after scoring in double-digits in four of the five games in December along with tying his season-high in rebounds with nine.
Alaska Preview – The Saints fell to Alaska in their first meeting, 78-71; with the Nanooks further improving their record to 9-9 overall and 7-5 in conference in the meantime. The Nanooks feature four different scorers who all average 10 or more points per game, led by Michael Kluting at 12.1 ppg. The offense runs around Kluting with his scoring and his team-leading 8.0 rebounds per game while shooting 48.8 percent from the field. Davis Kimble will look to have an impact against the Saints with his 11.6 ppg and team-leading 4.47 apg. Alex Baham and Joe Lendway are the two final Nanooks scoring in double-figures at 12.0 and 10.1 ppg respectively. Despite holding a winning record in conference, Alaska has been outscored this season 75.6 ppg to 73.5 ppg. The Nanooks shoot 47.0 percent on the floor, 39.8 percent beyond the arc, and 68.7 percent at the free throw line. Alaska averages 32.2 rpg, 16.1 apg on 13.8 turnovers per game, while collecting 5.4 steals per game, and 2.1 blocks per game.

Alaska Anchorage Preview – Before traveling to Marcus Pavilion, Alaska Anchorage will face Seattle Pacific on Thursday. The Saints defeated the Seawolves in their first meeting, 71-66 earlier this month. Leading the Seawolves is DJ Ursery who is second on the team in both scoring (12.1 ppg) and rebounding (5.6 rpg). Josiah Wood and Malik Clements have combined for 15.0 ppg and 6.6 rpg as the second and third leading scorers on the team. The Seawolves feature the conference's lowest scoring offense a 62.3 ppg; however, they are the league's best scoring defense at 64.2 ppg. UAA is shooting 39.7 percent from the field, 28.1 percent beyond the arc and 74.2 percent at the free throw. Alaska Anchorage averages 33.5 rpg, 15.3 apg on 11.7 turnovers per game, along with 5.8 steals per game and 4.0 blocks per game.

GNAC Recap – All streaks must come to end, and Western Washington's perfect run was snapped by the Saints, followed by a loss to Seattle Pacific as the Vikings fell to the second spot at 10-2. Western Oregon claimed the top spot in conference at 11-1 after extending their win streak to 12 games. Saint Martin's holds sole possession of third at 8-4 with Alaska and Seattle Pacific close behind at 7-5. Central Washington and Northwest Nazarene remained tied for the final spot in the GNAC Championships with 6-6 records. Alaska Anchorage sits one game out of the playoffs at 5-7. Montana State Billings and Simon Fraser are tied for ninth at 3-9 while Concordia rounds out the standings at 0-12.
