Big Plays By Guards Leads Saints In Road Victory – Behind a complete game by Luke Chavez and a season-high by Rhett Baerlocher, the Saint Martin's Saints pulled off the 71-66 victory over the Seawolves of Alaska Anchorage's on the road Thursday night. Chavez ended the game with 23 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals while Baerlocher added 14 points and four steals as SMU (10-3, 3-2) shot nearly 52 percent from the field to power past Alaska Anchorage (7-6, 3-2) in a critical GNAC matchup.
 
Hot-Shooting Nanooks Stun Saints On The Road – Despite 18 points by Luke Chavez and a season-high 18 points from Rhett Baerlocher, the Saints fell to Alaska 78-71 on the road Saturday afternoon. Saint Martin's struggled to find their shot from beyond the arc, connecting on only 30 percent of their shots, while Alaska shot 53.6 percent from the field as SMU fell to 10-4 overall and 3-3 in conference action.
 
Baerlocher Impresses On Alaska Road Trip – The junior guard found his stroke in Alaska after posting 14-point and 18-point performances in two games. Along with his season-highs in scoring, Baerlocher set new season-high in steals (4) at Anchorage and rebounds (7) at Fairbanks.
 
Fastest To 10-Win Mark – With the Saints picking up their 10th win of the season at Alaska Anchorage, in only their 13th game, it marked the shortest amount of time since the 2009-10 season.
 
EJ Boyce Leads ConferenceEJ Boyce leads the GNAC in 3-pointers made per game at 3.1 by knocking down 43 shots beyond the arc in 14 games.  His 41.7 3-point field goal percentage is 17th best in the conference. On the year, Boyce is averaging 11.6 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 3.0 apg, 0.7 spg in 31.4 minutes per game.
 
Tavian Henderson Leads ConferenceTavian Henderson leads the GNAC in field goal percentage at 78.3 percent. He has connected on 47 of his 60 shot attempts, after going 14-for-16 in the last two weeks of conference action. Henderson is averaging 8.1 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.5 apg, while playing 21.9 minutes per game.
 
Henderson Named Saint Of The Month – Every month, Saint Martin's names one male and one female athlete Saint of the Month. Henderson earned his first award after scoring in double-digits in four of the five games in December along with tying his season-high in rebounds with nine.
 
Western Oregon Preview – The Saints will have their hands full with No. 18 Western Oregon coming to town on Thursday. The Wolves are 13-1 overall with their only loss coming in conference to the hands of Western Washington. The GNAC runner-up last season, are led by the GNAC preseason Player of the Year Tanner Omlid. Omlid enters the week averaging 11.7 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 3.1 apg, 2.4 spg, and 2.1 bpg while shooting 46.2 percent from the field. Supporting Omlid is the Wolves' leading scorer, Demetrius Trammell, who scores 12.4 ppg with a shooting line of 49.1/46.8/96.3 percent. Vince Boumann is the third Wolf in double-digits scoring, averaging 11.7 ppg along with 4.9 rpg. Malik Morgan, Riley Hawken and Ali Faruq-Bey round out the top six scoring options at 9.5, 9.2, and 9.0 ppg respectively. On the season, Western Oregon averages 86.6 ppg, the highest in the GNAC, while allowing only 67.5 ppg, the second lowest in conference. WOU shoots as a unit 52.3 percent from the field, 40.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 65.4 percent at the line. The Wolves record 37.6 rpg, 17.5 apg on 12.9 turnovers per game, along with 10.2 spg, and 4.2 bpg.

Concordia Preview – Unlike Western Oregon, Concordia has struggled throughout the season, posting a 4-10 record overall and 0-6 in conference action. The Cavaliers, who are currently on a 10-game losing streak, will travel to Seattle Pacific before heading into Marcus Pavilion. CU features two impact players with guard Jarrett Gray and forward Christopher Edward. Edward is the only player in the GNAC who averages a double-double and has recorded 10 so far. In 30.2 mpg, Edward's averages 16.6 ppg, and 11.9 rpg, along with 1.1 bpg. Gray runs the offense for the Cavaliers, with 16.6 ppg, 3.8 rpg, and 3.4 apg in 37.4 mpg. Bryan Michaels is the third Cavaliers who averages double-digits in scoring at 11.0 ppg. Cody Starr and Jace Cates have started all 14 games for Concordia and combined for 14.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg and 6.2 apg. Concordia scores 72.6 ppg, the second lowest in the GNAC, while allowing 80.1 ppg, the second highest in conference. As a team, Concordia shoots the ball 44.4 percent from the field, 35.0 percent from beyond the arc, and 66.2 percent at the free throw line. CU averages 35.1 rpg, 13.2 apg on 14.1 turnovers per game, along with 4.4 spg, and 2.5 bpg.

GNAC Recap – Western Washington continued their perfect run of conference action, improving to 6-0 in the GNAC and 11-3 overall. However, right behind them is No. 18 Western Oregon at 5-1 in conference and 13-1 overall. Seattle Pacific sits along in the standings at third with a 4-2 record in GNAC and 9-4 overall. Saint Martin's, Northwest Nazarene, Alaska Anchorage and Alaska are all locked up for fourth overall at 3-3 in conference. Montana State Billings, Simon Fraser and Central Washington remain closely behind at 2-4 while Concordia looks for their first win at 0-6.
