Saints Lock Down Defensively For Road Win, Extend Win Streak To Eight Games – After trailing by three at halftime, the Saints locked down defensively, holding Concordia to only 21 second half points to pull away a 71-58 road victory, extending their win streak to eight on Thursday night. Saint Martin's (18-5, 11-4) shot nearly 51 percent from the field while limiting Concordia (4-19, 0-15) to 34 percent shooting in the second half, to outscoring them by 16 to clinch the Saints' eight straight GNAC victory, the third longest of the conference this year.
Western Oregon Snaps Saints' Eight Game Win Streak – The Saints' longest conference win streak in school history was finally snapped at eight with a road loss to No. 5 Western Oregon, 86-73, despite shooting 52 percent from the field. The fifth-ranked Wolves (23-1, 15-1) had no answer for
Matt Dahlen, who finished with 17 points; however, fouled out in 15 minutes of action. Western Oregon pulled away from the Saints (18-6, 11-5) in the second half to clinch their 16th straight win and improving their perfect record at home to 13-0.
Saints Remain Ranked Seventh In Regional Poll – In the D2SIDA regional poll, voted on by SIDs, the Saints, despite splitting their games last week, stayed seventh in the polls. Eight teams are selected to attend the NCAA West Regionals.
Luke Chavez Back-To-Back GNAC Player Of The Week In January – Receiving the award for back-to-back weeks and the third time this season, Chavez powered the Saints to road victories over No. 16 Western Washington and Simon Fraser. Chavez averaged 21.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.5 apg, and 1.5 spg, while shooting a blazing 56.7 percent from the field and 42.8 percent beyond the arc. Starting the week off against No. 16 Western Washington, who was undefeated in GNAC play, Chavez led all scorers with 23 points, along with seven rebounds and three assists. He followed up the performance with a 20-point, three rebounds, and four assists outing against Simon Fraser
Alex Pribble Earns 50th Career Victory At Concordia – With the 71-58 victory over Concordia on Thursday, Feb 8, head coach Pribble picked up his 50th career victory. Pribble hit the mark in only 82 games in his third year at the helm of the program.
Fastest To 10-Win Mark – With the Saints picking up their 10th win of the season at Alaska Anchorage, in only their 13th game, it marked the shortest amount of time since the 2009-10 season.
EJ Boyce Leads Conference –
EJ Boyce leads the GNAC in 3-pointers made per game at 3.2 by knocking down 77 shots beyond the arc in 24 games. His 45.8 3-point field goal percentage is 5th best in the conference. On the year, Boyce is averaging 11.8 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 2.6 apg, 0.7 spg in 31.3 minutes per game.
Tavian Henderson Leads Conference –
Tavian Henderson leads the GNAC in field goal percentage at 75.2 percent. He has connected on 85 of his 113 shot attempts, while shooting a perfect 1.000 percent in eight games. Henderson is averaging 8.2 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.4 apg, while playing 22.1 minutes per game.
Chavez Named Saint Of The Month – Every month, Saint Martin's names one male and one female athlete Saint of the Month. Chavez earned his second award after being named GNAC Player of the Week back-to-back times and averaged 17.8 ppg, 5.6 rpg, and 3.9 apg while shooting 49.5 percent from the field in the month of January.
Seattle Pacific Preview – The Saints defeated Seattle Pacific in their first meeting, 80-73; however, the Falcons have remained near the top of conference at 14-9 overall and 9-7 in GNAC action since then. SPU has turned to Gavin Long and Nikhil Lizotte, who enter the week at 12.6 and 9.6 ppg respectively. Long also brings a 54.9 field goal percentage and .52 bpg to the floor while Lizotte the Falcons' best weapon at the free throw line at 88.7 percent. Coleman Wooten is second on the team in scoring at 10.5 ppg and boards at 7.0 rpg while shooting 53.4 percent from the floor. The Saints will expect to see a lot of Nathan Streufuert (9.4 ppg, 7.5 rpg), and Harry Cavell (8.9 ppg, 4.1 rpg) throughout the game as well. Seattle Pacific averages 82.1 ppg on 48.5/39.3/72.6 shooting percentages, while allowing 77.7 ppg. The Falcons average 37.7 rpg, 14.9 apg on 12.8 turnovers per game, along with 4.4 spg, and 2.9 bpg.

Montana State Billings Preview – The Saints defeated the Yellowjackets in their first meeting, 75-69, and MSUB has fallen to 13-14 overall and 5-11 in conference since then. However, MSUB has posted an 8-4 record at home this season. After missing nine games earlier this season, the Yellowjackets returned their second leading scorer Tyler Green (12.5 ppg, 1.9 rpg), who posted 16 points against WWU last week. Stepping up without Green was Zack Rollins, who leads the team in scoring at 15.8 ppg, and leads the team in rebounding at 5.1 rpg. Running the Yellowjackets' offense is Kendall Denham and Kobe Terashima with a team-leading 2.7 and 4.4 apg respectively. Denham averages 11.7 ppg and 3.1 rpg while Terashima brings 7.2 ppg to the court. Another force down low is Zharon Richmond who brings 10.3 ppg and 4.5 rpg to the floor. Sven Jeuschede and Kamal Tall combine to average 12.7 ppg, and 7.1 rpg while only missing two games total. MSUB as a team is averaging 79.5 ppg on a 46.1/38.4/73.4 shooting line while allowing 78.1 ppg. The Yellowjackets record 33.0 rpg, 14.6 apg on 15.4 turnovers per game, along with 6.1 spg, and 3.6 bpg.

GNAC Recap – With their win streak now touching 16 games, No. 5 Western Oregon remained first in the conference at 15-1 and received one first place vote in the national poll. Western Washington opened up some space for second place, improving to 13-3 while Saint Martin's split their two games, and now sitting at 11-5. Central Washington and Seattle Pacific are now tied for fourth in the standings at 9-7 while Alaska Anchorage and Alaska are tied for the final spot in the GNAC Championships at 8-8. Northwest Nazarene remains one game of the playoffs at 7-9. Montana State Billings (5-11), Simon Fraser (3-13) and Concordia (0-16) round out the conference standings.
