Greeley Grinds Down Sea Lions as No. 9 Saints Start 3-0

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Saint Martin's men's basketball team (3-0) have officially put the nation on notice with a convincing 66-58 win over No. 11 ranked Point Loma on Monday night. Earlier that day, weekly polls were voted on, including the D2CSC poll which had the Saints come in at No. 9 in the nation and No. 1 in the west. The 9th place nod is the second highest in school history.

With 2:40 to go in the contest, a three from Point Loma had SMU up by only two, but it was Kyle Greeley that found the answer with a jumper in the paint that put the Saints back up four. Then it was the defenses job to make plays as Saint Martin's did not allow neither a bucket nor a point for the rest of regulation. Greely and Kaden Hansen each made a free throw, then Tyke Thompson and Myles Samuels each hit a pair. Point Loma was able to get two free throws after the game time had concluded but those points worked for nothing more than to improve the scoreline for PLNU.

Kyle Greeley came through with 20 points, while Tyke Thompson had 16 and Myles Samuels finished with 12. Marcel Stevens was the next leading points getter with nine. Both Samuels and Greeley had nine rebounds, Thompson added both two assists and two steals.

The Saints head back to California this weekend for matchups with CSU-Monterey Bay and CSU-East Bay. Both games will be hosted at Pioneer Gymnasium in Hayward on East Bay's campus. The Saints will tip off versus the Otters on Friday, November 17th at 5 PM.
