KG and Co. Start 2024 with Two Wins
BURNABY, BC and BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Saint Martin's men's basketball team (13-1, 3-1 GNAC) started 2024 similarly to how they went about much of 2023, with winning. The Saints went on the road to down two GNAC foes, first Simon Fraser 74-68 before a 112-105 win over Western Washington. Kyle Greeley led the offense over the weekend, scoring 50 total points for the Saints.

SMU survived a battle with the Red Leafs on Thursday night thanks to good defense and clutch moments down the stretch. Greeley led the way scoring with 19 and nearly got a double-double with nine rebounds. Myles Samuels came off the bench to total 16, while Tyke Thompson had 10 in his return to action after nearly a month off. A jumper by Greeley with 3:50 left pushed the lead to 12 for the Saints but SFU whittled it back to four with a minute to go. Jaden Nielsen-Skinner and Greeley each made both of their free throws down the stretch to lock up the win.

Game two had a very different feel with both sides sinking shot after shot. The Saints went into the locker room down one at 49-48 but stormed back in the second half thanks to 31 from Greeley. He was flanked by Kaden Hansen who had a career-high 22 on four three pointers. Thompson once again scored in double figures with 13 while both Shakeem Alcindor and Nathaniel Stokes both had a dozen. After only getting five assists in the contest with the Red Leafs, the Saints had 21 in the battle with the Vikings, led by Skinny with six. The Saints once again made enough free throws down the stretch to hold on.

The Saints get Thursday off before heading up a battle with Western Oregon at Marcus Pavilion on Saturday, January 13th. That game starts at 5:15 PM and will be followed by a postgame reception at O'Blarney's (21+).
