Portland, Ore. — The Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) today announced its Athletes of the Week for Sept. 29-Oct. 5, with Saint Martin's freshman middle blocker Hanna Ligons earning Defensive Player of the Week.

Ligons recorded 10 blocks in an emphatic 3-0 win over No. 19 Western Washington this week. Across a two-game split this week, she totaled 12 blocks, hit .471%, and totaled 16 points off 1.50 kills per set.

The award is the first of Ligons' career. The freshman was also named Saint of the Week for her performances.

Ligons and the Saints notched a historic victory, defeating No. 19 Western Washington at home in a three-set sweep.

The Saints hit the road this week for back-to-back GNAC matches, facing Northwest Nazarene on Oct. 9 and Central Washington on Oct. 11.
