LACEY, WA — The Saint Martin's Track & Field team delivered standout performances at the Peyton Shotwell Invitational after weeks of improvement from multiple athletes, with the Men's team scoring 75 points to place fourth overall, while the Women's roster earned 20 total points to finish in ninth. The meet saw record-breaking performances, personal bests, and strong showings across multiple events, and there are multiple athletes to keep tabs on as the outdoor season continues to roll.

The men's team had a remarkable outing, led by Samuel Gray, who set two new school records with his dominant victories in the 100m (10.65) and 200m (21.64). Gray's performances solidified his place in Saint Martin's history as he continues to build on his impressive season. Samuel sits at third in the GNAC for the 100m and fifth for the 200m. Ryan Doidge soared to victory in the pole vault, clearing 14'11", allowing him to secure first place in a competitive pool. He sits at first in the GNAC and is looking to continue his stellar performances as we hit the halfway mark to the outdoor season. Jocelyn Saribay continues to show her abilities after being crowned GNAC Champion. She sits at first and shows no signs of stopping her dominant performances. She threw a personal-best 50.64 meters at the PLU Open on March 8th, winning the meet in the women's hammer throw outright. At the Oregon Preview, she would still place fifth in the finals, showcasing her talents against some of the area's best competition.

The Men's team as a whole would have a handful of other impressive performances. Zack Takeshita finished fifth in the pole vault. Ethan Linerud claimed the top spot in the discus throw at the Peyton Shotwell Invitational with an impressive mark of 44.16m (144'10"), while Gage Pedro secured fifth place. On the track, Treyton Corpuz and Noah Boyd performed well in the 400m hurdles, finishing in third and fourth place respectively. In the distance events, Ethan Coon ran a massive personal best in the 5000m, clocking 16:25.98 to place fifth. In the throws, Jeremy Miller hit a new personal record in the shot put with a throw of 43'8.5", earning fourth place. Abdoul Zongo also claimed a new personal best in the triple jump with a mark of 42'7.5", securing fifth place in the event.

On the Women's side, Alberta Samuelu delivered a strong performance in the shot put, finishing in third place. In the sprints, Madison Vu ran a season-best time in the 400m, securing fourth place. The distance runners also put together a great showing, with Mira Jayarama running a huge personal best in the 5000m, finishing fifth, while Taylor Ames also recorded a personal best in the event. In the throws, Taylor Dillon had a solid day, placing sixth in the shot put and seventh in the discus throw. Susana Diaz also made a strong impact in the javelin, recording a personal best and advancing to the finals.

The Saints will be back in action at the John Knight Twilight in Monmouth, Oregon, starting on Friday, April 11th.
