Duncan Leads SMU Track & Field at GNAC Outdoor Championships

SMU Track & Field competed at the 2025 GNAC Outdoor Championships from Friday, May 9th, through Saturday, May 10th.

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Saint Martin's Track & Field closed its 2024-2025 season at the GNAC Outdoor Championships at Civic Field.

The Saints would have a plethora of impressive performances, with the most notable competitor being junior jumper Alyssa Duncan. In the long jump, Duncan would put up an impressive 5.65m leap, good for the 93rd-best mark in all of Division II, propelling her to fourth place overall in the meet. She would carry her momentum over to the triple jump, where she would record another top-100 mark, this time setting a season-best performance in the process with an 11.70m mark (#64 in Division II). She would take fifth place in the triple jump and ninth place in the 100m hurdles, setting a personal record in the process with a time of 14.92 seconds. Duncan would be joined at the top of the leaderboards by senior Jocelyn Saribay, who would place fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 49.51m, capping off a historic and memorable career as a Saint. Taryn Wochnick and Alberta Samuelu would each record personal bests, coming in eighth and 14th place, respectively.

On the Men's side, Ryan Doidge would be the squad's top performer with a fourth-place finish in the pole vault with a final successful leap of 4.50m to earn SMU valuable team points. Zack Takeshita would also score in the pole vault, claiming an eighth-place finish at a mark of 4.20m. Abdoul Zongo and Makhi Odoms would lead the Saints in the jumps, with Zongo placing sixth in the triple jump (13.03m) and Odoms claiming seventh place in the long jump (6.75m). Freshman Gage Pedro would show out in the field events, placing sixth in the hammer throw (50.40m) and tenth in the discus (43.53). Treyton Corpuz would set a personal record of 57.87s in the 400m and contribute to the 4x400m relay team's season-best mark of 3:24.21 alongside Timmy Higgins, Kainalu Pagente, and Samuel Gray. Saint Martin's Men's Track & Field would place eighth out of nine teams and the Women's squad would finish in ninth.
