SMU Announces New Assistant Athletic Trainer

Dani Tang will be joining the Saints staff as the new assistant athletic trainer.

LACEY, WA — Saint Martin's University is excited to welcome Dani Tang as the school's next Assistant Athletic Trainer.

Tang, a Tacoma native, comes to us from Whitworth University where she served in a similar role as interim assistant athletic trainer. Dani has also worked at nearby Pacific Lutheran University. Dani is a graduate of Whitworth University where she obtained her Bachelors of Science in Health Science Pre-Athletic Training and Minor in Psychology and Coaching. She completed her Masters of Science in Athletic Training in 2022, also at Whitworth University.

When asked about the opportunity to make this career move, Dani stated "I am looking forward to taking this next step at Saint Martin's! I believe we (athletic trainers) are part of what gives athletes the best chance of success and I am looking forward to providing the best possible patient-care and working in such a welcoming environment." Tang is set to join the athletic training staff this coming June, 2024.

In regards to the hire, Assistant AD of Sports Medicine and Wellness, Isaac Thompkins, stated the following:

"I am eager and exited to get to work with Dani and I believe she will fit seamlessly into the Saint Martin's community. She brings a level of knowledge, experience and confidence in her abilities that really stood out throughout this selection process. I believe that this will translate well and that we will be able to collaborate with a common goal of providing the best possible care for our student athletes."


The athletic training staff plays an integral role in the success of Saint Martin's Athletics and the addition of Tang to the athletics staff perpetuates the department's goal of improving the overall athletic experience for our student athletes.
