The 2009 men's soccer team, led by GNAC Coach of the Year
Rob Walker, was the first Saint Martin's team in any sport to win a conference title when they campaigned to an 11-7 overall record and a 6-2 record in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play. This was even more remarkable considering the fact that this team was just in their third ever year as a varsity program.
Led by First Team All-GNAC selections Xan Nixon, Zac Lubin, and Ruben Orozco, the Saints started 1-1 in conference play after a narrow one-goal loss to MSU-Billings at home. SMU then railed off five straight conference victories all by one goal, including a double OT victory against MSUB on the road on October 29
th, before a victory over Northwest Nazarene in Nampa vaulted the Saints to clinch the GNAC title.
The team members included: Tony Armitage, Conner Biggs, Kramer Cross, Chase Franklin, Michael Hamilton, Kango Katzer, Austin Kelley, Victor Kelmel, Chris Laise, Sergio Lopez, Zac Lubin, Tucker Maxwell, Joe Miller, Blake Moreland, Xan Nixon, Gabe O'Hara, Erik Orozco, Ruben Orozco, Daniel Palermo, Josh Proctor, Jesse Ramos, Dylan Rus-Ingham, Spencer Salvador, Atam Sanghera, James Schmid, Chad Schmidt, Paul Schmitke, Brandon Scott, Emran Usman, Vlad Voin, TJ Young, and Head Coach
