George Van Mieghem was a 4-year basketball letterman for Saint Martin’s College and was named to the Washington Intercollegiate Conference all-star team in 1941 and 1942. He was also a 4-year letterman in track, competing in the high jump, broad jump, 440 and the relay. He held the collge high jump record for more than 25 years. He also twice lettered in baseball. A 1938 Saint Martin’s High School graduate, he letterd in football and baseball and was captain of the basketball team. After service in the Navy during WWII, he returned to Saint Martin’s High School to teach mathematics and coached football, basketball and baseball from 1946-1950. He was inducted into Saint Martin's Hall of Fame in 1991.
